MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following consecutive visits to Penn State, the West Virginia track and field team returns to Morgantown for its third home meet of the season Friday as it hosts the Blue-Gold Meet.

The competition is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Shell Building.

“Being at home is nice since we are approaching the BIG EAST Championships,” says WVU coach Sean Cleary. “Having a nice little tune up to keep us in a competitive frame of mind is important. Not having to be on the road will allow us to prepare and rest for next weekend at BIG EAST.”

The Mountaineers will host six other programs in Waynesburg, Geneva College, Westminster, St. Vincent, Bethany College and Alderson Broaddus.

“We have a few more kids that we hope can qualify for the Big East Championships,” Cleary says. “It will serve as a tune up for our team so we can have a strong performance next week.”

WVU competed at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup last weekend in State College, Pa., and qualified four additional athletes to the BIG EAST meet. A total of 18 Mountaineers have qualified to compete at BIG EAST, which takes place Feb. 18-19 in New York City.

The Blue-Gold Meet will be scored live and can be viewed at MSNsportsNET.com, where full results will also be posted at the conclusion of the meet.
