Women's Soccer: McCarthy To Play In Cyprus Cup
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia women’s soccer player Bry McCarthy has made the 22-player roster of the Canadian Women’s National Team at the 2012 Cyprus Women's Cup on Feb. 28 - March 6. McCarthy, an all-BIG EAST defender for the Mountaineers, played well in a pre-tournament camp last week in Larnaka, Greece. Canada opens tournament play on Feb. 28 against Scotland. “I’m excited to continue training and having the opportunity to represent Canada,” said McCarthy. “I plan on competing each day and doing everything I can to help this team win another Cyprus Cup title.” Canada is a three-time Cyprus Women's Cup champion, having won titles in 2008, 2010 and 2011. McCarthy, who has made full national team appearances before, was a member of last year's championship squad. |
