Swimming: Women's Relay Finishes Sixteenth
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The women’s 800 free swimming relay team of Rachael Burnett, Kata Fodor, Mandie Nugent and Danielle Smith took 16th (7:13.09) at the NCAA Championships this evening in Auburn, Ala. Their swim earned them honorable mention All-America status. “Today was a good day,“ says coach Vic Riggs. “ We had some really good prelim swims and then a very long wait for our relay. The ladies did well and I’m proud of them.” The relay was seeded 15th going into finals with a time of 7:06.87. “It wasn’t our best relay but they handled the pressure well,” says Riggs. “They ended up scoring some points and that’s all I can ask for.” Individually, Burnett finished 51st in the 200 free (1:48.26), followed by Fodor in 59th (1:50.41). Nugent finished 36th in the 100 fly (53.85) and Smith finished 54th in the 100 back (54.64). Tomorrow concludes the championships with the 1,650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay. A recap will be available at MSNsportsNET.com. |
