More Honors for WVU's Jones

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior forward Kevin Jones was named to the John R. Wooden 10-member All-America men’s basketball team, announced today.

Jones, a Mount Vernon, N.Y., resident led the Mountaineers to their fifth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance this season by averaging 19.9 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. He shot 50.9 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the free throw line while accumulating 34 blocks, 41 assists and 23 steals.

Jones had 21 double-double games in points and rebounds and 19 20-point scoring efforts in 2012, including a career-high 30 points in West Virginia’s overtime victory over Kansas State on Dec. 8. He became the first Mountaineer player since Wil Robinson in 1972 to score at least 20 points in nine consecutive games, and he finished his career ranked among the school’s top six in scoring and rebounding.

Previously, Jones was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-America second team, the United States Basketball Writers Association 10-member All-America team and he was also named to The Sporting News All-America third team.
