Track: Successful Finish to Raleigh Relays
Hammer throwers Terina Miller, Heather Adams and Alanna Pritts led the team as Miller broke her own all-time best school record of 54.98 meters with a 55.25-meter throw Saturday to place sixth overall in the field. Adams came in 10th place with a throw of 52.10 meters, while Pritts broke her own fifth-best all-time WVU mark of 40.69 meters with a 41.72-meter throw. Competing for the first time of the outdoor season, the 4x800 relay team of Jessica O’Connell, Stephanie Aldea, Hallie Portner and Sarah Martinelli assembled a strong race with a second-place finish in 9:04.53. A fellow 4x800 squad of Alison Kimble, Lauren Moskal, Allison Pettit and Chelsea Jarvis came in 10th place with a time of 9:52.09. Pole vaulter Katlyn Shelar achieved a 3.75-meter vault to place third overall, while newcomer Carrie Long finished seventh with a 3.65-meter height. The 4x400 relay team of Josie Crouch, Kelly Williams, Arielle Gaither and Allison Tyree placed 21st with a time of 3:59.46. In the 400-meter hurdles, Gaither placed fourth in her section in 1:07.24, while Kristen McWhorter finished fifth in her section in 1:08.83.
