MAC: Coaches Caravan Opens in Wheeling

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) will open the 2012 Coaches Caravan this week with stops in Wheeling and Parkersburg.

The caravan will kickoff on May 2, in Wheeling at the Oglebay Resort, before moving on to J.P. Henry’s in Parkersburg on May 3. Both events will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Legendary Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer and Oklahoma running back Billy Sims will be special guests at both stops. Switzer, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, and Sims, the 1978 Heisman Trophy winner and a three-time (1980-82) NFL Pro Bowler with the Detroit Lions, will welcome Mountaineer fans to the Big 12 Conference.

Individual tickets to each event are $50 per person and include admission and dinner. Sponsorship opportunities also are available at each location.

The caravan, an annual tour of the state, affords MAC members and Mountaineer fans the chance to meet, greet and visit with WVU coaches and administrators. All proceeds from the caravan benefit the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the MAC’s scholarship fund.
