MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University rifle national champion Petra Zublasing and wrestler Lance Bryson were named to the women’s and men’s 2012 Capital One District 2 Academic All-District At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The honorees will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballots, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Zublasing, the 2012 NCAA air rifle champion, is a rising senior and boasts a 3.85 grade point average (GPA) in civil engineering. A native of Appiano, Italy, she earned the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Shooter of the Year award en route to victories in air rifle and combined score at the conference championships. She shot a school-record 600 air rifle in a win over Army on Oct. 22, becoming the first female NCAA shooter to earn the perfect score.

Currently competing on the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup Circuit with the Italian National Team, Zublasing, a two-time Dean’s List honoree, earned an Olympic quota place in 2011 and will shoot at the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

Bryson, a rising senior and native of Shoaf, Pa., is working toward a degree in exercise physiology and boasts a 3.8 GPA. A three-time member of the President’s List (4.0 GPA) and a six-time Dean’s List honoree, he was named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association’s Individual All-Academic Wrestling Team.

A 2012 NCAA Championships qualifier, Bryson secured a 25-16 overall record this past season, including a 4-2 mark against Eastern Wrestling League foes. He won six matches against ranked opponents, the second-best mark on the team, and placed third at the Reno Tournament of Champions.
