Track: Carrier-Eades at Olympic Trials
The Buckhannon, W.Va., native will seek a top-three finish in both the heptathlon and the 100-meter hurdles events to advance to the Olympics in August. An eight-time All-American, Carrier-Eades competes in the 100-meter hurdles first round Friday evening at 8:40 p.m. in a field of 32 competitors. Upon a top-18 finish in the first round, she will compete in Saturday evening’s semifinals round at 6:15 p.m. The top eight from the semifinals compete in the finals round later in the evening at 8:45 p.m. She will compete in the heptathlon beginning the following Friday, June 29, with the 100-meter hurdles (1:30 p.m.), high jump (2:30 p.m.), shot put (4:15 p.m.) and the 200-meter dash at 5:15 p.m. The final three heptathlon events occur Saturday, June 30, with the long jump (6 p.m.), javelin throw (7:15 p.m.) and the 800-meter run at 9:20 p.m. The heptathlon field will consist of the nation’s top 18 heptathletes. In 2011, Carrier-Eades came in 16th place in the semifinals round of the 100-meter hurdles. Former WVU athlete Josh Simpson will also compete at the trials in the 10,000-meter run, scheduled for Friday evening at 9:45 p.m. A full schedule can be found at gotracktownusa.com.
