Swimming: Two Place in Top 40

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Seniors Bryce Bohman and Rachael Burnett each placed in the Top 40 of their respective events, while junior Danielle Smith also competed on Tuesday at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

“Danielle, Bryce and Rachael represented the Mountaineers well today,” coach Vic Riggs says. “Bryce had a great morning swim with a best time, while Danielle and Rachael had real good morning swims. They’re adjusting very well to the environment and pressure of this meet.”

Bohman, representing the men’s side, finished 36th overall in the 100 back with a time of 56.56, a career best.

Burnett swam to a 38th-place finish in the 400 free with a time of 4:16.48, while Smith tied for 139th place in the 100 back (1:05.27).

Tuesday was the second day of the eight-day event in which WVU has eight student-athletes competing. Wednesday will feature swims by Burnett in the 200 free and graduating senior Taylor Camp in the 200 fly.
