Swimming: Camp, Burnett Highlight Day Three
“It was a very strong day for the Mountaineers,” coach Vic Riggs says. “Rachael swam a great 200 free, achieving a lifetime-best time and winning her heat, and Taylor swam a lifetime-best morning time in his 200 fly.” Camp opened his Trials meet by swimming in the 200 fly, finishing in 34th place in a time of 2:01.48. Swimming her third event of the meet, Burnett took 41st in the 200 free with a career-best time of 2:02.05. “Eleven percent of all the athletes competing in Omaha are swimming best times and that’s a great class of athletes to be in,” Riggs says. “As we get more comfortable in this environment we are swimming better and achieving more best times daily.” Camp, along with junior Tim Squires will be swimming in the 100 free to open Thursday morning’s preliminary session for the Mountaineers. |
