MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia women’s soccer team opens preseason camp Wednesday morning, Aug. 1, at Dreamswork Field.

“We are excited to get back out on the field and get our preseason camp underway,” says coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “The ladies are anxious to step on the field and compete as we begin a new era of competition in the Big 12 Conference. Our focus is to build off each session throughout the preseason and get ready for our season opener in two weeks.”

The Mountaineers begin camp with on-field training twice a day, strength and conditioning workouts and individual and team meetings. West Virginia will continue its preparation leading up to the home opener against La Salle on Friday, Aug. 17.

WVU will take part in two exhibition contests this fall. The Mountaineers play host to Akron on Aug. 10 and face Pitt on Aug. 12. Both matches will be held at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

West Virginia returns seven starters in 2012 as Izzo-Brown begins her 17th season in charge of the Mountaineers.
