Preseason Ranked
WVU will face three preseason Top 10 teams this fall: Stanford (1), Oklahoma State (5) and Penn State (9). Today’s poll is the first of 13 rankings throughout the season by the NSCAA. West Virginia will play two home exhibition matches this weekend before its season opener on Aug. 17. WVU will face Akron on Aug. 10 and Pitt on Aug. 12 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Both contests will kick at 7 p.m. and are open to the public. “We are looking forward to playing two exhibition matches this weekend,” says coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “With 12 newcomers, it will serve as a good measuring stick on where we are and where we need to improve.” The Mountaineers were preseason ranked No. 17 in 2011 before putting together a 17-5-0 record and making a 12th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. |
