If you like watching Mountaineer men’s basketball on television then this year’s schedule is for you.

At least 19 regular season games will be on some sort of national television [17 of those on ESPN’s family of networks along with two CBS telecasts this year] and all but one regular season game [Duquesne] is slotted for some type of TV coverage.

The Duquesne game being played at the Consol Energy Center on Tuesday, Dec. 11, could also be slotted for television as it falls under the Atlantic 10 Network package.

Last year, West Virginia had 16 regular season games on national TV, and three years ago when the Mountaineers made their run to the Final Four, they had 25 contests, including post-season games, on some type of national television.

Root Sports will carry four telecasts this year: Glenville State, VMI, Radford and Eastern Kentucky, while the annual Marshall game in Charleston will once again be televised on the Capital Classic Network.

West Virginia’s two CBS games are both on the road at Purdue (Jan. 19) and at Kansas (Mar. 2).

Also, seven games are slated for Big 12 Network coverage this year with three of those [the 1:30 p.m. tips] being part of the Big 12’s Game of the Week syndicated package.

All of West Virginia’s Big 12 conference games fall on Monday, Wednesday or Saturday. There is no conference games played on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Sunday, plus, no noon tips for home games this year, meaning WVU students will have an extra hour and a half to get to the Coliseum for those earlier games. The standard 7 p.m. evening tip time for games has also been aborted.

Finally, West Virginia will have five 9 p.m. weekday road games this year – at Texas, at Iowa State, at Baylor, at Kansas State and at Oklahoma – meaning the team will be making early morning arrivals back in Morgantown the following day after those games.
