MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four West Virginia women’s soccer players have been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 soccer team, as selected by the league’s head coaches, conference officials announced today.

Seniors Bry McCarthy and Bri Rodriguez, junior Frances Silva and sophomore Kate Schwindel each made the preseason squad in the Mountaineers’ inaugural Big 12 Conference season.

Oklahoma State, the reigning Big 12 champion, placed four players on the team, while Texas and Texas Tech each placed a pair of players on the squad. League coaches are not permitted to vote for their own players.

The 2012 Big 12 preseason soccer poll will be announced tomorrow.

The Mountaineers, ranked No. 20 in the NSCAA preseason poll, will play two home exhibition matches this weekend. WVU will face Akron on Aug. 10 and Pitt on Aug. 12 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Both contests will kick at 7 p.m. and are open to the public.
