Meet Halie Conroy
With the 2012 season just around the corner, WVUsports.com will get to know the 12 newcomers on the West Virginia women’s soccer team. Today’s edition features Highlands Ranch, Colo., native Halie Conroy. What attracted you to play soccer at West Virginia University? It was a perfect fit because of the players, coaches and facilities. I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to continue my soccer career. How much did you know about West Virginia women’s soccer? I really hadn’t thought about West Virginia until they found me. I decided to go and check it out. And my dad always said ‘it’s just a flight away.’ So, being far from home was never really a concern. I did some research on the program and took a visit, and knew it was a good fit for me. Who has had the biggest influence on your soccer career? My parents have been always been supportive, and they made the commitment to drive me to so many practice and games. They have been great. How did you spend your summer? Working on fitness, and sticking to the workout packet they sent us. And I obviously played a good amount of soccer with my club team. Why should Mountaineer fans come out to see the women’s soccer team play this year? We’re in the Big 12 Conference, so it’s something new for our fans to enjoy. There is a lot of talent on this team, and I’m excited to see how well of a season we can put together. Twitter or Facebook? Snickers or Twizzlers? Twizzlers Car, Truck or SUV?
