WVU Picked Second in Big 12 Poll
“It’s good to be toward the top of the conference, but we have a lot of work to do,” says coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “We have to learn eight new opponents and a new style of play from the teams in this league. But I know the ladies are excited to compete and show people what WVU women’s soccer is all about.” Oklahoma State was chosen to win the league by taking four of the nine first-place votes for 60 points in voting done by the league’s head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own teams. WVU earned two first-place votes in ranking second with a total of 56 points. Behind the top two teams, Baylor, Kansas and Texas Tech are separated by only 10 points in spots three through six, with each receiving one first-place vote. Texas was ranked sixth, Oklahoma seventh, and Iowa State and TCU were chosen eighth and ninth, respectively.
