Recruiting Class Ranked No. 24

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men's soccer team's 2012 recruiting class checked in at No. 24 in the Top 30 nationally by College Soccer News.

Overall, WVU's incoming class consists of 12 players, including NSCAA Youth All-American Alessandro Mion (Miami, Fla.) and NSCAA High School All-American Kyle Underwood (Aledo, Texas). The team also brought in international forwards Ryan Cain (Wellington, New Zealand) and Majed Osman (London, England).

Goalkeeper Kevin Armstrong (Luna Niguel, Calif.), defender Haydon Bennett (Chesterfield), defender Francio Henry (St. Catherine, Jamaica), midfielder Zak Leedom (Dublin, Ohio), midfielder Griffin Libhart (Marietta, Pa.), midfielder Jamie Merriam (Rockville, Md.), defender Nick Raskasky (Tacoma, Wash.) and defender Chris Spates (Prince George, Va.) round out the class.

The Mountaineers are one of two teams from the MAC ranked in the Top 30 as rival Akron came in at No. 2.

West Virginia began preseason practice on Thursday, Aug. 9. The Mountaineers will travel to George Mason for an exhibition match on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m.
