Wide receiver Tavon Austin
, kicker Tyler Bitancurt
, center Joe Madsen
and quarterback Geno Smith
are among 311 players from 114 different schools who made the list. The top 100 college seniors in the country will be invited to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl to be played Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.
Invitations for the 2013 Senior Bowl will be extended soon and will continue throughout the season.
The Big 12 Conference had 29 players make the initial cut, which ranks fifth behind the SEC (71), Big 10 (46), ACC (43) and the Pac 12 (32).
West Virginia has had 45 players participate in the Senior Bowl, with running back Noel Devine, nose tackle Chris Neild and wide receiver Jock Sanders being the most recent invitees in 2011. The Mountaineers have had 16 players selected for the Senior Bowl since 2004.***
Meanwhile, SiriusXM released its week one college football schedule and West Virginia’s season opener against Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 1, will air on Sirius channel 91 and XM channel 91.
This is the fourth year West Virginia University has partnered with SiriusXM.
The WVU-Marshall game was previously announced as a sellout, but the Mountaineer Ticket Office is still accepting ticket orders for West Virginia’s game against James Madison at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., on Sept. 15, as well as its season finale against Kansas at Milan Puskar Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 1.
