Schoenle Earns Preseason All-America Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior defender Eric Schoenle of the WVU men’s soccer team has been named a Preseason All-American by Soccer America, the web site announced today.

This is his third Preseason All-America honor after earning first team recognition by CollegeSoccerNews.com and CollegeSportsMadness.com. Schoenle also earned a spot on the watch list for the Hermann Trophy, an award given to the best player in collegiate soccer.

Schoenle was an NSCAA Second Team All-American in 2011, finishing the season with three goals and three assists for nine points.

The WVU men’s soccer team opens its 2012 season with a match against Hartford on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. The Mountaineers return to action on Monday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m., hosting Stetson.
