The Mountaineers return to action at home against sixth-ranked Penn State on Friday, Aug. 31, in the WVU 90 Minute Classic. Kickoff at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is slated for 7 p.m. The match has been deemed a “Gold Rush” and the Mountaineer Maniacs will distribute 150 gold shirts to fans at the game. The weekend tournament will also feature ACC foe Miami and Big East member Pitt. The two teams will play prior to WVU’s match on Friday, with kickoff slated for 5 p.m. at Dick Dlesk. Sophomore Jess Crowder was also recognized Tuesday, being named a CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer for her performance last weekend. The Cary, N.C., native made the move from attacking midfielder to outside back for the Stanford contest, logging a career-high 90 minutes. In just her third career start, Crowder and the WVU defense recorded its first shutout of the season against Stanford. The Cardinal were held without a goal, snapping a 25-game streak of scoring at least one goal. The Mountaineers allowed only one shot on-goal and one corner kick on the day. |
