Each year, YOUR women’s soccer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown challenges us with one of the nation’s toughest schedules. This year is no different.
This Friday night at 7 p.m. the Penn State Nittany Lions are coming into OUR house to play one of our most successful programs at West Virginia - YOUR Mountaineer women’s soccer team. Penn State is a talented team and one of our biggest rivals. My teammates and I are fired up to represent OUR school and OUR state in this matchup of Top 25 teams.
We are coming off a huge win against No. 1-ranked Stanford last weekend, snapping its 64-game regular season unbeaten streak. But knocking off the defending national champions doesn’t mean as much if we can’t carry that momentum into this big weekend.
As with any other team on campus, we feed off the energy of OUR fans, and we’re hoping we can get a huge crowd out for this game. The Mountaineer Maniacs are giving out gold t-shirts to the first 150 fans to help make OUR stands a sea of gold and the first 100 students will be given yellow cards to help the referees call the game (watch those offsides calls please!)
And Mountaineer football fans in town this weekend, take a break from tailgating and mosey on over and warm your voices up for Saturday’s victory over Marshall.
All are welcome to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Friday to cheer as loud as you possibly can. YOUR energy and enthusiasm means the world to us! Let the Nittany Lions feel the power of Mountaineer Nation, and show them how passionate our fan base is!
Grab some friends, wear your gold, and let's show Penn State that our 12th man can really make a difference. We appreciate YOUR support and hope to see you all this weekend.
