MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 22 West Virginia men’s soccer team will travel to Penn State for a non-conference match on Thursday, Sept. 6, at Jeffrey Field. The match will start at 7 p.m.

The Mountaineers (2-2-0) are coming off back-to-back 1-0 losses at No. 1 North Carolina and at No. 15 Wake Forest last weekend.

Seniors Travis Pittman and Peabo Doue, along with freshman Jamie Merriam, each have one goal to lead the Mountaineers. Defensively, senior Eric Schoenle and freshman Nick Raskasky have anchored the backline, playing all 360 possible minutes of action.

In goal, senior Pat Eavenson is 2-2-0 with a 0.75 goals-against average (GAA) in four starts, making nine saves.

Penn State (3-1-0) is 3-0-0 at home this season, but is coming off a 2-1 loss at No. 21 Georgetown last Sunday afternoon.

Offensively, the squad is led by Julian Cardona who has four goals, while Owen Griffith, Marvin Ledgister, Minh Vu and Daniel Burnham each have scored one goal. John Gallagher leads the team with two assists.

Emmanuel Martin has started all four games in net for the Nittany Lions and has made five saves, while allowing four goals for a 1.08 GAA.

Bob Warming is in his third season at the helm of Penn State, leading the squad to the Big Ten Tournament Championship game in his first two seasons.

Penn State leads the all-time series 18-6-1, including nine wins at home. WVU is 2-0 against Penn State since coach Marlon LeBlanc took the reins, winning 2-1 in 2006 and 1-0 in 2007.
