Dykxhoorn Earns Silver in World Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Freshman right-handed pitcher Brock Dykxhoorn of the West Virginia University baseball team has completed the IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship for the Team Canada Junior National Team, finishing with a Silver medal. The championship was held from Aug. 30-Sept. 8 in Seoul, South Korea.

A native of Goderich, Ontario, Dykxhoorn was one of the top pitchers in the tournament, posting a 2-0 record with an earned-run average of 0.73 in three appearances. He allowed one run on six hits in 12.1 innings pitched, while striking out eight.

Dykxhoorn earned his only start of the tournament in the final game of group play, a 10-1 win over Panama, where he earned the win in 7.1 innings pitched, and allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts.
