Four Wrestlers Ranked in Preseason Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four West Virginia University wrestlers are ranked in WIN Magazine’s 2012-13 Preseason Tournament Power Index.

Senior Shane Young is ranked No. 14 at 125 pounds, after he posted a 24-8 overall record and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third-consecutive season.

Junior Nathan Pennesi is ranked No. 18 in the 133-pound weight class, following a season in which he posted a team-high 29 victories and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second time in his career. This season, Pennesi will be moving to 141 pounds.

Junior Michael Morales, who finished last season with an 18-4 record and qualified for his first NCAA Championships, comes in at No. 14 at 141 pounds.

The final Mountaineer ranked in the poll is junior Lance Bryson. After a 2011-12 season that saw him post a 25-16 record as well as earn a berth to the NCAA Championships, Bryson is ranked No. 14 at 174 pounds. This year, however, Bryson will move up to 184 pounds.

WVU finished last season with a 9-4 record in dual meets and had six wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Championships, its most since the 2006 season.
