MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four West Virginia University wrestlers are ranked in WIN Magazine’s
2012-13 Preseason Tournament Power Index.
Senior Shane Young
is ranked No. 14 at 125 pounds, after he posted a 24-8 overall record and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third-consecutive season.
Junior Nathan Pennesi
is ranked No. 18 in the 133-pound weight class, following a season in which he posted a team-high 29 victories and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second time in his career. This season, Pennesi will be moving to 141 pounds.
Junior Michael Morales
, who finished last season with an 18-4 record and qualified for his first NCAA Championships, comes in at No. 14 at 141 pounds.
The final Mountaineer ranked in the poll is junior Lance Bryson
. After a 2011-12 season that saw him post a 25-16 record as well as earn a berth to the NCAA Championships, Bryson is ranked No. 14 at 174 pounds. This year, however, Bryson will move up to 184 pounds.
WVU finished last season with a 9-4 record in dual meets and had six wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Championships, its most since the 2006 season.
