Silva Earns Weekly Honor
Silva scored three goals, including both game-winners, and now leads the league in goals scored with eight. The junior forward is tied for the Big 12 lead in points (18) with teammate Kate Schwindel – a TopDrawerSoccer honoree last week. Against Texas Tech on Sept. 21, Silva gave the Mountaineers an early 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute and later connected on the game-winner on a penalty kick after being taken down in the box. Silva scored her second straight game-winning goal in WVU’s upset win over No. 7-ranked Oklahoma State on Sept. 23. She has scored seven goals in the last four matches, becoming the fourth different Mountaineer to score a goal in four consecutive matches, the first since Megan Mischler in 2010. Dating back to last season, Silva has a goal or an assist in eight of WVU's last nine conference games – all wins. |
