Hamric Named Athlete of the Week
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Redshirt junior Jordan Hamric has been named West Virginia University Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance in the Blue Race at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic last Saturday.
Hamric came in third place out of 337 runners and ran a personal-best time of 17:57.60 in the 5k race at the E.P ‘Tom’ Saywer State Park.
The Morgantown, W.Va., native helped lead WVU to a season-best mark of 41 points for the team’s first top-finish of the season.
WVU will return to the same course in Louisville, Ky. on Oct. 13 for Pre-Nationals at 10:15 a.m.

No. 21 WVU scored two unanswered goals at TCU to win its first Big 12 road match, 2-1, on Sept. 28 in front of 2,057 fans at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium … with the scored tied 1-1 after 45 minutes, senior Bri Rodriguez scored her first goal of the season in the 52nd minute … the Mountaineer defense would limit the Horned Frogs to four second-half shots to secure the win and improve to 3-0-0 in conference play … WVU finished with a 23-9 edge in shots, paced by forward Kate Schwindel’s four attempts … TCU, who moved to 5-5-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the Big 12, allowed 10 Mountaineer corner kicks – a season high for its opponents … after a goal from TCU’s Makenzie Koch, West Virginia evened the match at the 40:33 mark when Schwindel was taken down on the left side by a hard tackle near the sideline … freshman Amanda Hill volleyed a shot into the far corner from the left side of the box to make it 1-1 … West Virginia extended its winning streak to five matches.
