Pro Football Update
Here is an update on each of them following week five of the NFL season. Corey McIntyre - Buffalo Bills McIntyre saw action on offense and on special teams in the Bills 45-3 loss to the 49ers, but did not record any statistics. Brandon Hogan - Carolina Panthers Hogan has been placed on injured reserve, after he suffered a season-ending knee injury. J.T. Thomas - Chicago Bears In the Bears 41-3 win over the Jaguars, Thomas played on special teams, but did not record any statistics. Adam Jones - Cincinnati Bengals Jones, who started in the Bengals previous two contests, recorded one tackle and a pass breakup in the Bengals 17-13 loss to the Dolphins. On special teams, Jones returned two punts for a total of 25 yards. Robert Sands - Cincinnati Bengals Sands has been placed on injured reserve, after he suffered a season-ending chest injury. Don Barclay - Green Bay Packers In the Packers 30-27 loss to the Colts, Barclay played exclusively on special teams. Pat McAfee - Indianapolis Colts McAfee punted five times for an average of 44.6 yards in the Colts come from behind 30-27 win over the Packers. Of his five kicks, two were downed inside the 20-yard line. McAfee ranks seventh in the NFL in average yards per punt and No. 10 in net yards per punt. Ellis Lankster - New York Jets Lankster, who played a large amount of snaps on defense, had one tackle in the Jets 23-17 loss to the Texans. Owen Schmitt - Oakland Raiders The Raiders were idle this week. Will Johnson - Pittsburgh Steelers In the Steelers 16-14 win over the Eagles, Johnson contributed heavily at fullback, but did not register any statistics. Ryan Mundy - Pittsburgh Steelers When Steelers’ safety Troy Polamalu was hampered by a calf injury in the first quarter, Mundy stepped in and collected a season-high six tackles. Bruce Irvin - Seattle Seahawks In the Seahawks 16-12 win over the Panthers, Irvin made his presence known, as he notched two sacks, two tackles and a game-saving forced fumble. Irvin leads all rookies and is tied for 12th in the NFL with 4.5 sacks. In addition, Irvin became only the 14th player in NFL history to have 4.5+ sacks in their first five game. The Broncos’ Von Miller was the previous to do so. Najee Goode - Tampa Bay Buccaneers The Buccaneers were idle this week. Keith Tandy - Tampa Bay Buccaneers The Buccaneers were idle this week. Darius Reynaud - Tennessee Titans Reynaud had one carry for eight yards, one reception for 17 yards, two punt returns for 25 yards and two kick returns for 61 yards in the Titans 30-7 loss to the Vikings. The fourth-year pro averages 27.6 yards per kick return, which is good for sixth in the NFL.
