Randy Mazey wants former West Virginia University baseball players to become involved in the Mountaineer program.
On the weekend of Oct. 19-21, they will have the opportunity to do that as part of the Varsity Club Weekend activities surrounding the Kansas State football game that will kickoff at 7 p.m. and will be televised nationally on Fox.
“Our tradition goes way back and I want to get everyone involved in the program,” said Mazey. “We have had alums stop by practice this fall, and I have encouraged some of them to talk to the team so our players have an understanding of the baseball heritage we have here.”
The Alumni Baseball Reunion Weekend begins with an open practice on Friday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. Following practice, there will be a private reception at Keglers at 6 p.m. that is open to the entire family.
Saturday’s schedule includes the Varsity Club Pregame Tailgate at the Coca-Cola Hospitality Village beginning at 3 p.m. (there are a very limited number of tickets left for active Varsity Club members to purchase for $25), followed by the WVU-Kansas State football game.
On Sunday, there will be an alumni baseball game at Hawley Field beginning at noon prior to a fall game against Potomac State at 2 p.m.
All members of the WVU Varsity Club and former student-athletes are invited to attend.
