MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team is set to travel to Louisville, Ky., for the 2012 Division I Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the E.P. ‘Tom’ Sawyer State Park.
Saturday is the second trip back to the course this season after finishing first in the Blue Race at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Sept. 29.
“We came down here two weeks ago and had a very good race. We plan to do the same this weekend, yet over 6,000 meters,” coach Sean Cleary says. “Training has gone well for the majority of the team and this should be a very good tune up for the Big 12 Championships. Our focus for the remainder of the season is to run well enough this weekend to go into the Big 12 and Mid-Atlantic Regionals with confidence.”
The Mountaineers had all five scoring runners finish in the top 12 while the team posted a season-low 41 points at the classic under the leadership of junior Jordan Hamric
. Hamric was the first runner to cross the line for WVU with a 5k personal-best time of 17:57.60.
