Men’s Soccer Set for Senior Day

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 21 West Virginia University men’s soccer team welcomes Mid-American Conference foe Hartwick, presented by EZToUse.com, on Sunday, Oct. 14, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The first 100 fans will receive a free WVU wristband. The match will start at 1 p.m.

WVU enters the match with a 7-3-2 record and a 2-0-1 mark in MAC play. The Mountaineers defeated Buffalo, 2-0, last Sunday at home with sophomore Andy Bevin scoring the game-winning goal. Senior Eric Schoenle added an insurance goal on a penalty kick.

Schoenle leads the team with five goals, while senior Uwem Etuk and freshman Majed Osman each have four assists. In net, senior Yale Tiley has a 0.40 goals-against average in three matches this season with one save and 1.5 shutouts.

Hartwick has a record of 4-5-2, including a 1-1-0 mark in conference play. Most recently the Hawks defeated Bucknell, 1-0.

Cleyon Brown leads the team with five goals, while David Styles leads the team with four assists. Jhevaughn Beckford, Marc Russell and Chris Walter each have two goals apiece.

Goalkeeper Tom Buckner will be starting his fourth game in net and has allowed six goals with 16 saves for a 1.86 goals-against average.

Prior to the match, eight student-athletes: Schoenle, Tiley, Etuk, Peabo Doue, Pat Eavenson, Francis Molasoko, Travis Pittman and Shadow Sebele will be recognized on Senior Day. The group has combined for 380 games played, 47 goals and 71 assists under LeBlanc.

Also, area youth players (8th grade and under) attending the match can sign-up for a free clinic that will take place following the match. To participate, youth players must be signed up before the conclusion of halftime.
