Diving Hosts Penn State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia men’s and women’s diving teams will face Penn State in a meet on Monday, Oct. 15, at the WVU Natatorium. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m.

The Mountaineers are coming off a strong showing in their first meet of the season, winning the West Virginia State Games, with men’s divers Richard Pokorny, Christian Parker, and Keith Carmichael taking the top three spots on the 3-meter board. Pokorny qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

For the women divers, Haily VandePoel won the 3-meter diving competition and placed second on the 1-meter board. Freshman Lindsay Schmidt took second and third on the 3-meter and 1-meter, respectively. VandePoel earned a qualifying mark for the NCAA Zone Championships on the 1-meter board.

The swimming portion of the meet will be held Friday, Oct. 19, at 5 p.m., at the WVU Natatorium. A complete recap of all the action can be found at WVUsports.com.
