Big 12 Honors WVU's Keane
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Big 12 Conference has named WVU sophomore women’s soccer player Sara Keane its Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. A Mt. Laurel, N.J., native, Keane helped the Mountaineers remain in first place in the Big 12 standings following their 1-1 draw with 20th-ranked Baylor on Oct. 12. She tied her career high with eight saves, where she faced 21 shots and 10 corner kicks. The Bears entered the match leading the conference in every statistical category. Keane worked all 110 minutes to help extend WVU's unbeaten streak to 11 matches. Earning the Conference’s offensive honors was Oklahoma’s Emily Bowman, while teammate Renae Cuellar took home newcomer of the week accolades. The Mountaineers and Sooners will square off on Thursday, Oct. 18, in Big 12 match in Morgantown that will be televised on FOX Soccer. A WVU women’s soccer player has earned Big 12 weekly recognition in five of the nine weeks this season. |
