Women’s Soccer Captures First Big 12 Title
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 19 West Virginia women’s soccer team won the school’s first Big 12 Conference title, capturing the regular season crown Friday evening. The Big 12 title marks the sixth regular season championship for coach Nikki Izzo-Brown and the women’s soccer program. The Mountaineers entered the day with 19 points with one match remaining at Texas, the Conference’s second-place team. The Longhorns fell this evening at Baylor, 2-1 in double overtime, to secure WVU a point total that cannot be equaled. By clinching the regular season championship, West Virginia has assured itself of the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Soccer Championship in San Antonio, Texas. West Virginia, 6-0-1 in Big 12 play and 10-3-4 overall, closes out the regular season at Texas on Oct. 26. |
