Rifle Remains No. 1
The Mountaineers’ (4-0, 2-0 GARC) ranking is based on their NCAA-best 4717 team score, shot in a win over then-No. 10 Memphis (4634) on Oct. 17, at the WVU Rifle Range. Kentucky and TCU, the last two NCAA champions, flip-flopped spots, as UK rose to No. 2 and TCU fell to No. 3. Jacksonville State and Nebraska each moved up one to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Alaska-Fairbanks moved up one spot to No. 6, while Army fell three spots to No. 7. Memphis, Mississippi and Murray State held steady at No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. Today’s rankings are based on each team’s most-recent score. The Mountaineers return to the WVU Rifle Range this Saturday, Oct. 27, for a shoulder-to-shoulder match against No. 12 Navy. The match will begin at 8 a.m. and continue into the afternoon. |
