WQCW to Air Big 12 Basketball

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Tri-State's CW (WQCW), today announced an agreement with ESPN Regional Television to broadcast a full schedule of men's basketball games from the Big 12 Network beginning in January, 2013 in the Charleston/Huntington markets. Twenty-one games, including seven West Virginia University conference matchups, are scheduled to be televised as part of the agreement.

Additionally, The Tri-State’s CW will have the right to air Big 12 men’s basketball tournament games in March.

"Today's announcement is great news for basketball fans throughout our coverage area, and we’re delighted to call The Tri-State’s CW the home of Big 12 Basketball,” said Bill White, General Manager of WQCW-TV.

West Virginia games to air:

• January 5: Oklahoma @ WVU

• January 12: Kansas State @ WVU

• February 2: WVU @ Texas Tech

• February 9: WVU @ TCU

• February 16: Texas Tech @ WVU

• February 27: Baylor @ WVU

• March 9: Iowa St. @ WVU

WQCW-TV, The Tri-State’s CW, broadcasts in the Charleston-Huntington DMA (Designated Market Area), which incorporates viewing communities in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. It carries a mix of entertainment and sports programming, including The CW network, Pittsburgh Steelers preseason football, ACC football and basketball, and syndicated fare.

The Big 12 Conference is comprised of 10 Universities – Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech and West Virginia. The Big 12 is an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics conference that encompasses five states with more than 37 million people within its geographic footprint. During its 16-year history, the conference has produced 531 academic All-America selections, claimed national championship team titles in 16 of its 23 sponsored sports and its student-athletes and teams have combined for 517 individual NCAA titles and 47 team national champions. More than 4,100 student-athletes from across the United States and around the World compete annually under the Big 12 banner.
