Three Wrestlers Earn Preseason Ranking
Juniors Colin Johnston (133), Nathan Pennesi (141) and Lance Bryson (184) have each earned a top-20 ranking from InterMat. Johnston, who missed the previous two seasons due to shoulder injuries, is ranked No. 17. After leading the Mountaineers with 29 wins and earning his second-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships, Pennesi garnered a No. 19 ranking. The Latrobe, Pa., native began the season as a 141 pounder last year, but finished the season at 133 pounds after Johnston was injured. Bryson will enter the season ranked No. 20, as he moves from 174 pounds to the 184-pound weight class. During the 2011-12 season, Bryson accumulated 25 wins and secured his first appearance at the NCAA Championships. WVU opens its season this Sunday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m., as it takes on Kutztown, No. 15 Maryland and Johns Hopkins at the Terrapin Duals in College Park, Md. For the full list of rankings, click here.
