Another Women’s Hoops Preseason Ranking
The preseason ranking is the second one this season as the Associated Press women’s basketball poll listed the Mountaineers at No. 17. Fellow Big12 opponent and defending national champions Baylor was tabbed the favorite on both polls, earning all 31 first-place votes. Other league schools in the top 25 this week include Oklahoma at No. 14, Oklahoma State at No. 24 and Kansas tied for No. 25. Texas and Iowa State each received votes, and Virginia, Iowa and St. Bonaventure, all non-conference opponents on this season’s Mountaineer schedule also earned votes. The Mountaineers will play host to Alderson-Broaddus at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31 in exhibition action before opening the regular season, Friday, Nov. 9 against UNC Wilmington in the WVU Coliseum. |
