SAN ANTONIO – The West Virginia women’s soccer checks in at No. 13 in this week’s Soccer America Top 25 rankings, and is ranked No. 17 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sara Keane
has been named a CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer for her performance in WVU’s final regular-season contest, 1-0 win at Texas on Oct. 26.
Keane made seven saves against the Longhorns in picking up her 11th win of the season. The seven saves are one shy of her career high as the sophomore faced 11 shots and six corner kicks. Keane, who leads the Big 12 in save percentage with an .878 clip, recorded her eighth shutout of the year – fourth in conference play. She also was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.
WVU, unbeaten in its last 13 matches, won the regular-season championship to earn the No. 1 seed at this week’s 2012 Big 12 Soccer Championship in San Antonio, Texas. The Mountaineers will face No. 8 seed TCU tonight at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
