MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Former West Virginia University track and field All-American Kate Harrison took second at this past weekend’s Canadian Cross Country Championships in Vancouver.

Harrison placed second in the senior division with a 7k time of 23:12 and moves on to the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships that will take place in Bydgoszcz, Poland on Sunday, March 24.

“Kate continues to demonstrate that she is one of the finer cross country runners in North America,” coach Sean Cleary says. “This will be her second chance going to the world championships and it is exciting for us that we can plan properly and not have a collegiate season mixed in with trying to run this cross country meet. It is good to see Kate back at full strength and this should set her up for a great 2013.”

While still attending WVU, Harrison won the senior division of the 2010 Canadian Cross Country Championships with a 7k time of 23:43. Harrison went on to compete at the 2011 World Championships in Punta Umbria, Spain where she finished in 88th place with a 7k time of 28:51.
