Austin Collects Another Award
Austin accumulated 2,764 all-purpose yards this season, including 1,259 on 110 receptions through the air as the Mountaineers’ leading pass catcher. Austin, who needs 433 yards in the Pinstripe Bowl against Syracuse to set the FBS career record for all-purpose yardage, has scored touchdowns four different ways this season: by rush, pass, kick return and punt return. The Baltimore resident established a Big 12 record with 572 all-purpose yards in West Virginia’s 50-49 loss to Oklahoma on Nov. 17 in Morgantown. Earlier this month, Austin was named one of four finalists for the Hornung Award, presented to college football’s most versatile player. This year’s recipient will be announced Jan. 8.
