MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three West Virginia women’s soccer players were named to the 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-East Region team, including first-team selection Bri Rodriguez (Sport Management).

Junior forward Frances Silva (Television Journalism) was named to the third team, while sophomore goalkeeper Sara Keane (Sport Management) was tabbed honorable mention. Rodriguez would go on to earn College Scholar All-America Second Team honors.

To be nominated, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average throughout her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution; or be in her second year at the current school if she is a transfer student.

In its inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference, WVU won the regular-season championship with a 7-0-1 record. It marked only the sixth time a Big 12 team has won the regular-season title without a loss. West Virginia’s 2012 season ended with a 13th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.
