MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – On the cusp of its regular-season finale, the West Virginia University rifle team maintains its hold on the nation’s No. 1 ranking, as it is slotted in the top spot in this week’s College Rifle Coaches Association Poll.

The Mountaineers (10-1, 5-1 GARC) have been ranked No. 1 for nine straight weeks. Today’s rankings are based on a team’s top three qualifying scores; qualifying scores must be shot at three different venues.

There was no movement in this week’s poll, as TCU and Kentucky, the 2013 Great American Rifle Conference regular-season champions, rank No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Alaska-Fairbanks ranks No. 4, and Army ranks No. 5.

Jacksonville State opens up the bottom half of the top 10 at No. 6, while Air Force ranks No. 7 and Nebraska ranks No. 8. Memphis and Mississippi rank No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.

The Mountaineers close out their regular season against Murray State, ranked No. 11 in this week’s poll, on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the WVU Rifle Range. The shoulder-to-shoulder match, announced on Feb. 4, will begin at 9 a.m.
