MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – On the first day of competition at the SPIRE Indoor Track and Field Invitational, the West Virginia University women’s track and field team posted seven personal-best times.
In the 600-meter run and the unseeded heat of the 400-meter dash, all six Mountaineers recorded personal-best times. Freshman Peyton Hampson
led the way in the 600 meter with a time of 1:36.17 for a 16th-place finish, while juniors Arielle Gaither
and Allison Tyree
followed closely behind with personal-best times of 1:37.90 and 1:38.23, respectively.
Freshman Christa D'Egidio
finished first for WVU in the 400 meters with a 12th-place finish and a personal-best time of 57.16. Junior Shakiyla Cosby
finished in 22nd place with a time of 58.60, while freshman Alyssa Scherich
recorded a time of 59.47.
Scherich also recorded a personal-best time in the unseeded heat of the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.62.
