Women's Soccer Unveils Spring Slate
“I am looking forward to competing against other teams this spring as we look to better our game on an individual basis and as a team,” says coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “This is a critical time of year where it’s not necessarily about results, but about building on each day and improving throughout the course of the spring.” The Mountaineers also will host their annual 4-versus-4 tournament to raise funds for the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center on March 9, in the “Three’s a Team…the Fourth’s a Mountaineer” all-day event at the Caperton Indoor Facility. The tournament is open to boys and girls in grades three through eight, with an open division for college-age and older groups. Spring competition begins on April 7 with a home contest against Duquesne at Dick Dlesk. The Mountaineers and Dukes will kickoff at 1 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public for all home matches. WVU will face Pitt and Ohio State on April 13 in Pittsburgh at Ambrose Urbanic Field. The Mountaineers will meet the Panthers at 11 a.m. and will face the Buckeyes at noon. West Virginia closes out the spring slate with three home games, starting with St. Francis (Pa.) on April 14 at 1:30 p.m. On April 20, the Mountaineers welcome Maryland for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff. The spring booking concludes with a home match versus Kent State on April 27.
