MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia women’s soccer team plays host to its annual 4-versus-4 fundraiser on Saturday, March 9, with the “Three’s a Team…the Fourth’s a Mountaineer” all-day event at the Caperton Indoor Facility.
“We look forward to this weekend every year, where we can really interact with the soccer community to raise money and awareness for such a great cause,” says coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “I am hoping with all of our efforts, along with the community’s support, we can reach our goal of $100,000 in total money raised by WVU women’s soccer.”
The small-sided tournament raises funds for the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center at WVU’s Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. Teams will compete in the “Three’s a Team…the Fourth’s a Mountaineer” all-day event at the Caperton Indoor Facility, beginning at 8 a.m. The tournament is open to boys and girls in grades three through eight, with an open division for college-age and older groups.
The WVU women’s soccer team has raised more than $85,000 over the past nine years to help fight breast cancer.
The Mountaineers will take part in six matches during the 2013 spring season, including four matches at home at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Spring competition begins on April 7 with a home contest against Duquesne as part of the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Soccer Invitational. The Mountaineers and Dukes will kickoff at 1 p.m.
Admission is free and open to the public for all home matches, as well as this weekend’s fundraiser.
