PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The WVU baseball team fell to Central Michigan, 4-1, on Friday afternoon at North Charlotte Regional Park.

Central Michigan starter Jordan Foley (3-0) pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

The Mountaineers started lefty Harrison Musgrave, who struck out three in 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. Right-hander Ryan Hostrander pitched the final 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and striking out three. Neither pitcher allowed a walk in the effort.

WVU finished with seven hits, paced by a three-hit afternoon from left fielder Jacob Rice. Right fielder Brady Wilson and catcher Max Nogay each had two hits. The Mountaineers left 10 men on base, including the bases loaded in the fifth inning, compared to five by Central Michigan.

Musgrave allowed back-to-back singles to begin the game, with both players scoring to give the Chippewas an early 2-0 lead. Logan Regnier scored on a Nick Regnier sacrifice fly, while Pat MacKenzie was plated by a Jordan Adams ground out.

After Central Michigan extended its lead to 3-0 in the top of the third, the Mountaineers were able to get the run back and bring the deficit to 3-1. Nogay led off with a check-swing single to second base and eventually scored on a wild pitch after being advanced by a sacrifice bunt from center fielder Bobby Boyd.

Zack Fields led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to left field, bringing the Central Michigan advantage back to three at 4-1.

Logan Regnier, MacKenzie and Fields all had two hits apiece to lead Central Michigan.

WVU returns to action tomorrow against Maine at 11 a.m. Left-hander John Means (2-0) will go for his third-consecutive victory for WVU. Live stats will be available via
