MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University freshman runner Kelly Williams finished with a time of 4:39.30 and took seventh in the mile at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., Saturday evening.

Williams earned First Team All-American honors for the first time in her career and became the 32nd athlete in WVU program history to garner All-American honors.

“We are all so proud of this young lady,” coach Sean Cleary says. “A year ago, she was just learning what it was like to train and race at this level. A year later, she is standing on the podium at the NCAA finals. The experience that she gained this winter should pave the way for a very good future.”

Williams’ performance concludes the 2013 indoor track and field season for the Mountaineers. WVU will open the outdoor season at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C., on March 15-16.
