Four Personal-Bests Pace WVU at Wake Forest
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team recorded four personal-best marks Friday on the first day of the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C.
In the first event of the day, Heather Adams recorded a personal-best hammer throw of 53.93 meters for a fourth place finish. The mark was just above her previous personal-best and still sits at No. 2 on the WVU all-time list for hammer throw in program history.
Sydney Cummings was also successful on Friday by finishing in second in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 1.78 meters. Cummings is now tied for third in high jump in WVU program history.
Karissa Knabenshue was the final field performer to score a personal-best mark with a throw of 12.47 meters in the shot put. Knabenshue moved from No. 5 to No. 3 on WVU’s all-time list with her mark.
On the track, Allison Pettit led the way in the 1,500-meter run with a fourth place finish in the “B” section with a personal-best time of 4:49.76. Sarah McCauley followed in 15th place with a time of 4:55.57, while Lauren Moskal, Alex Klauke and Chelsea Jarvis followed in 21st (4:59.76), 25th (5:02.35) and 26th (5:02.90), respectively.
Competition at Wake Forest resumes tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. with the javelin, while the 4x100-meter relay will start the running events at 11 a.m. Live results from the race can be found at flashresults.com with final results and a recap posted on WVUsports.com following the completion of the competition.
