MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior swimmers Rachael Burnett and Mandie Nugent completed the 500 free on Thursday in day one of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.

Burnett finished 16th overall in a time of 4:41.91 to earn her fifth-career Honorable Mention All-America honor. In the prelims, Burnett finished 15th with a time of 4:41.13.

“It was a good night swim for Rachael,” coach Vic Riggs says. “She was just a little off on her splits from the Big 12 Championships, but she got a second swim and she will build off that.”

Nugent finished 60th overall in the event with a time of 4:54.02 during the prelims.

Both swimmers will be in action tomorrow, with Burnett competing in the 200 free and Nugent competing in the 100 fly. The finals of Friday’s events will be streamed live on ESPN3.com, and a full recap will be available following on WVUsports.com.
