Twenty-Four Rowers Earn Academic Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team had 24 members of its team named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Honorees included Alexandra Basil, Rachel Cokeley, Lisa Deklau, Elizabeth Duarte, Mallory Fisher, Jessica Hurlbert, Mary Ignatiadis, Elizabeth Kantak, Kelly Kramer, Morgan Leach, Caitlin Madamba, Jeannine McCarty, Hilary Meale, Christina Mehrtens, Rachelle Purych, Danika Rencken, Tamyra Roberts, Mollie Rosen, Bethany Anne Sapen, Courtney Schrand, Melinda Sharon, Ellen Shular, Karen Verwey and Danielle Widecrantz.

Student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

A record 2,538 student-athletes have earned recognition to the Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2012-13 academic year – an increase of more than three percent from a year ago.

Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner's Academic Medal. Those winners will be released tomorrow.
